The Senior Research Associate takes the lead in developing and leading key research analysis projects for the Annenberg Institute’s Higher Education, Rhode Island Education Research Initiatives, and Research Partnership for Professional Learning (RPPL) research teams, led by Annenberg faculty including Drs. Lindsay Page, John Papay, and Nathaniel Schwartz. Specific projects include:
K-12 Educator Workforce in Rhode Island: Quantitative research related to the K12 educator workforce as part of our partnership with the RI Department of Education and local districts (required competencies include experience with quantitative data analysis related to the K-12 educator workforce)
Education and the Economy: Quantitative research related to higher education and the workforce, particularly in Massachusetts and Rhode Island (required competencies include a background in higher education, with a preferred focus on transitions to higher education and the workforce and experience with quantitative longitudinal data analysis)
Career Trajectories of Highly Effective Teachers: Qualitative research related to the career decisions and development of highly effective educators (required competencies include experience with mixed methods data analysis related to teacher labor markets and human capital)
Educational Opportunity in Massachusetts: Quantitative or mixed methods research related to the educational experiences and pathways of students in Massachusetts (required competencies include experience with quantitative longitudinal data analysis related to educational pathways, pipeline transitions, and / or high school experiences, with a preferred focus on English learners and / or immigrant newcomers
Research Partnership for Professional Learning: Quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods research related to teacher professional learning (required competencies include experience with quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods research focuses on teacher professional learning and / or teacher career development)
Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Principal Investigators, the Senior Research Associate drives all aspects of project planning for multiple research projects for this research team in a dynamic, layered team setting. The position applies extensive scientific and management methodologies specific to the research team with empirical vigor, advancing research efforts and minimizing research development risks with regard to quality, timelines, and funding. Positions takes a lead role in designing experiments, leads data collection and analysis efforts, develops project models, and writes academic papers, reports, presentations, and grant reports. This position requires a strong independent work ethic, interest in education, ability to collaborate with the research team and external partners, commitment to equity, and quantitative research skills.
